The organizers of the 33rd Second Language Research Forum (SLRF) invite proposals for papers, posters and thematic colloquia (consisting of 3-4 papers each) for the conference.
We are soliciting proposals from various disciplines, including not only those that have traditionally been associated with SLA research, but also from approaches that are new to SLA research or that have been underrepresented at previous SLA conferences. To represent the conference theme, “Theory Meets Practice,” we are especially interested in proposals which bridge the gap between theoretical approaches to

Guidelines for Paper and Poster Submissions
Proposals for paper and poster presentations should consist of a title, an abstract, and a short summary. Titles should be no longer than 15 words. Abstracts are limited to 350 words in length, not including the title, references or examples. Abstracts must be single-spaced and in Times New Roman 12 point font. Summaries are limited to 50 words. Individual papers will be 30 minutes: 20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for questions and discussion. Posters should measure no more than
Guidelines for Colloquia Submissions
Proposals for colloquia (i.e., organized panels or sessions) will also be submitted online. A brief overview of the theme should be outlined, followed by a short abstract including the title of each paper to be presented as part of the colloquium. The colloquium overview is limited to 200 words and the individual paper included in the colloquium is limited to 150 words not including title or references. Colloquia will be 90-120 minutes, that is, they will include 3-4 papers. These should be submitted in one single document and the names of the presenters should also be excluded to enable a double-blind review. The names of the organizer and presenters should then be included in the submission process as co-authors.
Submission Policy: Number of submissions per person
An author may submit a maximum of one proposal as first author, but may also be a colloquium organizer, discussant, or co-author/co-presenter of a maximum of two additional papers or posters.
Submission Instructions
Starting Saturday, March 1, 2014, proposals will be accepted online. Only online submissions will be accepted. To make a submission, please visit the conference web site at http://artsandsciences.sc.edu/ling/activities/slrf2014/abstracts. Click on “Submissions” at the top of the page and you will be taken to our submission web site. Proposals will be selected based on the results of double-blind peer review. All submissions will be given the same consideration, and so, must be anonymous; do not put anything in the abstract which might identify you or your institution.
